Tips for Preparing for Navy Boot Camp
These days, many people are planning to join Navy. It is one
of the high paying professions that give you a sense of
satisfaction too. Navy recruiters are generally sincere and
conversant. It is their responsibility to take care that the
candidate chosen is mentally and physically fit. If you have
also been chosen to join the navy boot camp then there are a
few preparations that you must make.
First of all, be mentally prepared to join the navy. Make
your family your strength so that you are able to pass through
all the hardships at the camp. Before you set out for sail make
sure that your loved ones know your rating. They should also
have the details of the recruiter so that later they can have
your address from him. Arrange some of the contacts of spouses
or parents of other candidates sailing with you.
After the sail, the recruiter gets to know the address from
"Great Lakes Naval Training Center" within a week's time. This
way it becomes easy for you and your family to exchange letters
and be informed of each other's well being. Tell your family to
collect your address details after a few days.
You can even take your mobile phone with you. You can make
calls on your way and also make a final call when you reach the
camp. This mobile phone then can be sent back with your box of
clothes.
Before leaving, make sure that you give all the important
documents and contact numbers to your family members. This will
make things easier for them. One of the ways to avoid any
problem is to give a power of attorney to one of your family
members, if you have so far been the only member taking care of
the family affairs. Also, give them your credit card password
and pin code. All these measures would be helpful in case of a
mishap.
Don't forget to cancel your insurance policy. As soon as you
are on the ship, the navy covers you. Even if you leave the
services some time later in life, the Navy helps you get your
policy reinstated. Also, try and gather information about the
various aspects of a navy boot camp. This will give you a fair
idea about your future life.
Start believing in the motto 'all for one'. Cultivate 'WE'
and de-root 'I'. This will help you win friends and
appreciation. Never try and find answers for everything. This
will only lead to troubles and unrest. Remember that whatever
happens at the camp happens for some reason.
So, now before you start preparing for the navy boot camp,
keep these few things in mind. They will help you start and
adjust to this new phase of life.
